Tailor-Made Textiles is a design and production studio based in New York City with its soul in weaving centers around the globe. Our personalized, hands-on process helps to create beautifully crafted rugs and bespoke textiles for the hospitality design trade. We make handmade goods accessible and affordable, and we aspire to preserve the indigneous craft of weaving, making and producing through education and giving back.

Our business is our passion, and our passion is our business.

Tailor-Made Textiles was created through a love of modern design with respect to classic sensibilities and an unending desire to continue learning.
All of our producers are artisans; each has a different and unique work process, fine-tuned over time and handed down through generations.  Whether a small, family-run operation in the outskirts of the Atlas Mountains or in larger weaving centers in Northern India; we respect their traditions, strive to preserve them, and pass the knowledge on to you.
We believe it’s not only about the goods themselves, it’s about the experience in making them; the connection to a place on the other side of the globe that breathes life and energy into a rug and into your space.  The authenticity these products convey is completely opposite from the mass-market, mass-produced world in which we live.
We’re not just selling products. Every purchase supports fair wages, safe work environments, contributions to ending child labor, supporting green initiatives and education for future generations.

ABOUT THE OWNER

As a native New Yorker, Tyla Caccese grew up exploring the city’s diverse neighborhoods, local art scene and renowned cultural institutions. Her journey into the custom textile world began in the high-end residential market and evolved into servicing the hospitality trade almost exclusively. Tailor-Made Textiles was born in 2011 as a way to aid the design trade by bridging the gaps between inspiration, creation and production.
Her appreciation for natural products and her desire to educate designers and buyers comes from her B.A. in Natural Resource Management from the University of Connecticut and her M.A. in Environmental Education from New York University. After leaving the finance world in 2006, Tyla began her career in high-end custom carpet sales and production.
